HELPING HANDS IN BUILDINGS FORM
Vocation Tip It’s a simple concept: love God with your whole being and put that love into practice. How is God calling you to love? Have you considered the way of loving called “priesthood” or “religious life”? If God is calling you, call Father Joseph P. Tierney at (914) 968-1340 or Fr. Backes 877-9934.

FROM THE DESK OF FR. BACKES...
WHERE GOD AIN’T
He was just a little boy, on a week’s first day
He was wandering home from Sunday School, and dawdling on the way.
He scuffed his shoes into the grass; he found a caterpillar.
He found a fluffy milkweed pod, and blew out all the “filler”.
A bird’s nest in a tree over head, so wisely placed on high.
Was just another wonder that caught his eager eye.
A neighbor watched his zig zag course, and hailed him from the lawn;
Asked him where he’d been that day and what was going on.
“I’ve been to Bible School,” he said and turned a piece of sod.
He picked up a wiggly worm replying, “I’ve learned a lot of God.”
“M’mm very fine way,” the neighbor said, “for a boy to spend his time”
“If you’ll tell me where God is, I’ll give you a brand new dime.”
Quick as a flash the answer came! Nor were his accents faint.
“I’ll give you a dollar, Mister, if you can tell me where God ain’t.”

GOD ON THE INTERNET...
Anyone who has access to the internet knows how many stories, poems, etc. like the one above they receive each day from their friends. As I read through these I see that some like the poem above are very correct in terms of doctrine and some are incorrect but “cute”. This is where we need to be careful. In recent years, a lot of cute things have watered down our beliefs and our religious practices, by leaving out certain parts of what we actually believe. We need to exercise a bit of prudence when reading and passing on things from the internet and realize that sometimes they are not always doctrinally sound., We need to see the “cute” as “cute” and not conclude that they are automatically doctrinally correct. Be prudent..
